MexicoGP the Best Opening and Closing Show in F1

Recognition and its Importance

The Mexican Grand Prix is not only known for its passion for speed, but also for its unique ability to merge sport and culture in an unforgettable show. This year, the MexicoGP was awarded as the Grand Prize with the “Best Opening and Closing Show“, a recognition that celebrates the creativity and talent behind this event. And we, from @alesuart, had the honor of being part of this magical experience.

MexicoGP has shown once again that it is much more than a car race. This award not only recognizes the impeccable organization of the event, but also its ability to highlight the best of our culture on a global platform. Formula 1 is followed by millions of people around the world, and the MexicoGP has managed to take advantage of this showcase to show the richness of our traditions, colors and symbolism.

This recognition is a reminder that when we combine sport, art and passion, we can create something truly special. From mariachis to catrinas, every detail of MexicoGP reminds us who we are and where we come from. And for us, being part of this event was a dream come true.

The Participation of the Catrinas

Our participation in the Mexico GP 2024 has its roots in a very special project: “The Journey of the Animas”, an initiative that was born in 2022 with the aim of paying tribute to our most rooted traditions. One of the most memorable moments of this project was the creation of a unique Catrina, whose dress was made entirely of natural cempasúchil flowers. This design was not only a visual masterpiece, but also a tribute to the essence of the Day of the Dead.

Behind this creation there was a titanic effort: more than 11 people worked for 12 consecutive hours to give life to this Catrina. Every detail was carefully thought out, from the design of the floral headdress to the finishes that enhanced its beauty and symbolism. Thanks to this project, we called the attention of Formula 1, who invited us to be part of the event as cultural ambassadors, representing Mexico in the paddock of the Mexico GP 2024.

This year, we had the honor of presenting three of our best Catrinas, accompanied by a charro that completed the representation of our culture. For this great day, our team began to prepare early: at 7 a.m. we started the makeup process, making sure that every detail was perfect for the parade in the paddock at 10 a.m.

The team behind this production included talented professionals who worked hard to achieve an impeccable result:
Makeup : Marian Santos (@soymarian.mua), Julio Fabila (@juliofabila_art) And a server, Alejandro Su (@alesuart).
Wardrobe : Ana Gia (@anagiamx) and Nicandro López (@nicandrolopezmatus).
Headpice : Created by me (@alesuart) and Gibran Mendoza (@floresdeoaxaca).

Each makeup design was inspired by the dresses worn by our models, unique pieces that have been carried by celebrities such as Ángela Aguilar and that have paraded on international catwalks such as those of Miss Universe. To ensure that our makeup was always impeccable in front of the cameras, we performed retouching every hour. This meticulous process allowed us to keep the makeup intact and radiant throughout the event, ensuring that our Catrinas looked perfect for the global audience.

Our models, Daryel Fabián (@dary_dancer) , Mhya Bornacelly (@mhyabornacelly) y Zoe González (@zoeglz.12) , They wore these outfits with pride, capturing the attention of drivers, teams and fans in the paddock.

CULTURE, ART AND PASSION

Being part of the Mexico GP 2024 was an unforgettable experience. Not only because we were able to share our traditions with the world, but also because we realized the impact that art can have when combined with passion and dedication. Seeing how people interacted with our Catrinas, took photos and expressed their admiration was a reminder that our culture has the power to connect people from all over the world.

I want to thank the entire team that made this participation possible: from the designers to the models, through each person who collaborated in this project. I also want to congratulate the MexicoGP team for this incredible recognition. We are proud to have been part of this story!

MexicoGP teaches us that when we unite sport, culture and art, we can create experiences that transcend borders. Our Catrinas are not only a tribute to our traditions, but also an invitation to celebrate life, creativity and the pride of being Mexican.
